Bonnie Langford is Balsall radio’s special guest for Mothers Day

The fabulous Bonnie Langford comes to Balsall radio for our Mother’s day special show.

Bonnie is currently starring as Carmel Kazemi in Eastenders and is renowned for a theatre career that has spanned for decades.

Bonnie was playing the phenomenal role of ‘The Lady Of The Lake’ in Spamalot, at The Playhouse Theatre in the West End a role she played last year on tour and in London. This year she also played the role of ‘Roz Hart’ in 9 to 5, The Musical on its UK tour.

In the United States recently, she starred in her own critically acclaimed cabaret show as part of the ‘Brits Off Broadway’ season at 59E59 Theaters. Whilst in New York she appeared with Tyne Daly in a workshop production of the new musical Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, directed by Jerry Mitchell. She garnered more rave reviews for her portrayal of ‘Roxie Hart’ in Chicago both on Broadway and on the North American national tour, a role which she first played at the Adelphi Theatre and the Cambridge Theatre, London.

Bonnie made her debut in the West End at the tender age of seven in a musical adaptation of Gone with the Wind at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The following year she played ‘Baby June’ in Gypsy opposite Angela Lansbury at the Piccadilly Theatre. Bonnie made such an impact that the producers took her to America with the show for a national tour and a highly successful run on Broadway. For this performance, at the age of ten, Bonnie was nominated for a Drama Desk Award.

On London’s West End stage, she has starred in a further five smash hit musicals. Past productions include Cats – New London Theatre (original London cast); The Pirates Of Penzance – Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and London Palladium; Peter Pan – The Musical (playing the title role) – Aldwych Theatre; Me And My Girl – Adelphi Theatre; and her much acclaimed portrayal of ‘Charity’ in Sweet Charity – Victoria Palace Theatre. She has toured the UK in Oklahoma!; Charlie Girl; 42nd Street and as ‘Miss Adelaide’ in Guys and Dolls (Donmar Warehouse Theatre Production). She headlined the US cast of Fosse on the British leg of their International Tour and has also appeared in three Royal Variety Performances and numerous Royal Galas. She toured the UK with comedienne Sandi Toksvig in their hilarious show Short and Curly and Bonnie’s one-woman concert is a regular sell- out throughout the world.

Bonnie appeared in the hit musical film Bugsy Malone and many British television series including Just William, The Lena and Bonnie Show, the award-winning Hot Shoe Show, Hotel Babylon, Marple, The Catherine Tate Show, The Spa and as the 22nd assistant to BBC TV’s Doctor Who. She has been the subject of ITV’s This Is Your Life. In 2006, she learned to ice skate in front of millions on the hit show Dancing on Ice, skating her way to the final. Bonnie returned to the ice for the special Champion of Champions, before taking part in Dancing on Ice – The Live Tour, in both 2007 and 2008.
