The Journey Begins… I’m Delighted to Announce My 2026–2027 Practice Plan Workshop Tour
There are certain moments in your career that make you stop, reflect and feel incredibly grateful.
I am absolutely delighted to announce that I will be joining Practice Plan for their 2026–2027 Workshop Tour, travelling across the UK to meet dental teams and share what I believe are the superpowers that transform good practices into truly exceptional ones.
From October through to March, I will be visiting seventeen locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, meeting hundreds of dentists, dental nurses, reception teams, treatment coordinators, practice managers and business owners.
To say I am excited would be an understatement, it has been 4 years since my last tour and we have been working on the tour since December 2025.
More Than Just a Training Course
To everyone that attends you will see:
- The finished tour experience
- The polished slides
- The activities
- The confidence of the presenter standing on stage
What you rarely see is everything that happens long before you as a delegate walk through the door.
Creating a national membership workshop tour is not something that happens overnight. It begins months in advance with a blank sheet of paper, countless conversations, ideas scribbled into notebooks as I walk with my dogs going should we could we include this? Confirming concepts that work and also acknowledging what concepts that don’t, and a huge amount of refining until every section has a clear purpose.
So how did we come up with this tour?
The Idea Behind “Superpowers”
What I found and know is that every practice has talented people, every practice has caring clinicians, every practice wants to provide excellent patient care.
So why do some teams consistently outperform others?
After working with hundreds of practices across the UK, I have realised it rarely comes down to clinical ability alone. The difference is found in the behaviours and of course the three big C’s:
- Communication
- Consistency
- Confidence
Those are the real superpowers.
During the workshop will reveal the practical systems and habits that help practices communicate better, collaborate more effectively and create exceptional patient experiences.
Together we will explore how to:
- Turn new patient welcomes into unforgettable first impressions.
- Create a constructive feedback culture that boosts morale and performance.
- Transform treatment planning using a practical seven-step pathway.
- Elevate the roles of the whole team.
- Handle complaints with confidence and professionalism.
Everything is grounded in GDC Standards, supported by practical techniques and designed to be implemented immediately back in practice.
The goal is not simply to inspire people for a day. It is to give teams systems they can still be using months and years later.
Behind the Scenes
One of the things I am looking forward to sharing is something people rarely get to see. What does it actually take to prepare for a national tour? Over the coming months I will be taking you behind the scenes as the workshop develops.
- You will what the planning process is.
- How ideas evolve?
- How activities are tested?
- How stories are chosen?
- Why some slides disappear after hours of work while others stay.
- How every exercise is designed with a specific learning outcome in mind.
- Even after more than twenty years of presenting, every new course starts from the same place:
“How can I make this even better for delegates and that question drives everything, I do expect a lot of myself and I like to give tons of substance in an entertaining backdrop that creates an environment of happy learning.
It Is Never Just About Slides
People often think preparing a course is simply writing a presentation. In reality, that is probably the smallest part.
The real work involves asking questions like:
- What challenges are practices facing right now?
- Which conversations do teams struggle with most?
- How do adults learn best?
- How can we make difficult subjects enjoyable?
- What will delegates still remember six months later?
Everything does have to be considered and as I write this in August I deliver my 3rd test day to Practice Plan where we confirm that it is exactly what we all want, I am sure more refinements will come, it is like doing aligning of teeth, you get the result and then you just want to keep tweaking.
What I Will Be Sharing Throughout the Tour
Rather than simply announcing dates, I thought it would be fun to take everyone on the journey with me.
Over the coming months I will be publishing regular blogs covering topics such as:
- Behind the scenes of building a national workshop.
- How training activities are designed.
- Creating presentations that people actually remember.
- Lessons I have learned after 14 years of presenting.
- The psychology behind patient communication.
- The making of the Superpowers workshop.
- Packing for life on the road.
- Venue visits and tour preparation.
- Reflections after each event.
- The questions delegates ask most often.
- What surprises me at every workshop.
- Ideas that evolve because of conversations with delegates.
I hope these blogs give you a genuine insight into what happens before, during and after each workshop and even if you are unable to join me on this tour you will understand what goes into any event that I plan and deliver.
A Personal Thank You
Having spent over two decades working in dentistry from Business/Practice Manager, Dental Nurse to Treatment Coordinator, Patient Experience Lead and now Dental Consultant it is a privilege to be trusted to deliver this tour for Practice Plan Members.
I have worn many hats throughout my career, and every one of those experiences has shaped the workshop you will see.
I am incredibly grateful to Practice Plan for the opportunity and can’t wait to meet teams across the UK over the coming months.
